Student Concert Live musical performance is a highlight for the Aspire community. Students are strongly encouraged to participate in a Student Concert in December, as live performance opportunities provide an incentive for learning.
It also gives family and friends a chance to celebrate the progress of each student while enjoying a variety of musical styles and performances.
Aspire Music Academy
The Academy encourages weekly lessons so that the student gains the benefit of personal instruction in a focused environment and within a time frame that can help the instructor measure progress. The music instructor will create a practice schedule for each student based upon the individual goals of the student and their mutual assessment of progress.
Learning to sing or play an instrument is one thing, but performing the musical piece is another. I have a saying. “On stage you can successfully do only 10% of what you can do in your basement!” In other words when you perform a song you must add in another factor, nerves! When we are nervous it is more difficult to access our fine motor skills. Therefore, the best way to prepare your nerves for playing in front of people is just that; playing in front of people. For this reason, ASPIRE holds an open Mic night on the third Saturday evening of every month from 7:30 to 9:30. The open mic is just for the students of the school however, family and friends of each student are welcome to attend. The event is not mandatory but is greatly encouraged. There is no cost for this.
